Bio

Nick Patterson (b. 1986, Hamilton, ON.) lives and works on the unceded territories of the Songhees, Esquimalt and WSANEC peoples, otherwise known as Victoria. He creates installations that blend reality and fiction, future and past, to generate an atemporal environment in which the viewer experiences a dark mirror of contemporary life where familiar notions of work and home are assimilated by a future which requires new ways of understanding. Rapidly shifting environmental, social, and technological landscapes have prompted him to create works where viewers can experience possible futures and reconcile with strangeness as a way to inoculate against fear of a changing world.

He has presented drawing, installation, and video works in group shows at the University of Victoria, and has exhibited solo exhibitions in Victoria. He received a B.F.A. with Honours and Distinction from the University of Victoria in 2021, where he defended his MFA Thesis Exhibition in Spring, 2025.
